Water Supply Master Plan Update and Expansion

Volusia County has experienced a rapid increase in population and economic growth over the past few decades. In response to increased water use and new membership, the VCCWSC determined a need to update its Water Supply Master Plan.

While employed with another firm, Mr. John D. Watson and Mr. Ronald P. Ferland significantly contributed to the 1994 update and expansion of the VCCWSC Water Supply Master Plan. Major project activities completed include the following:

  • Determine the water needs of the Cooperative to the year 2010;
  • Estimate the capacity of existing wellfields and treatment plants;
  • Determine the capacity to the existing wellfields and water treatment plants to meet the needs of the Cooperative member if the systems were interconnected for the exchange of water;
  • Analyze alternatives for interconnection of Cooperative members’ raw water supply and treated water;
  • Review member reclaimed water and stormwater reuse plans and prepare a preliminary evaluation of alternative concepts for a Cooperative reuse system;
  • Review member conservation plans and evaluate alternatives for consolidating these plans;
  • Determine increased capacity of the Cooperative’s water supply systems to meet future needs if reclaimed water, interconnection and conservation methods are utilized;
  • Prepare an updated water supply master plan report to include all of the above task objectives.
Project Cost: $70,000
Completion Date: March, 1994
