Ronald Ferland, P.E. served as the Project
Manager and Engineer of Record for the Florida
Shores As part of the planning process, wastewater collection alternatives, including low pressure sewers and conventional gravity sewers were evaluated. Although present worth analysis supported low pressure sewers, gravity sewers were selected by the community based on the significant level of public input provided in over 30 public meetings. The wastewater collection facilities consisted of approximately 60 miles of gravity sewer, eight new pump stations and approximately 5 miles of 8-inch through 20- inch force mains. Road restoration, including paving of approximately 40 miles of unpaved roads, and stormwater management facility improvements were also provided. The reclaimed water facilities consisted of approximately 80 miles of 3-inch through 24-inch distribution and transmission mains. The City received greater than 95% participation of the homeowners connecting to the sanitary sewers within one year of completion of construction without enforcement measures being taken. Construction Cost: $16,000,000 Reference: |
