Barnes, Ferland and Associates designed and implemented a methane gas extraction system for Aswan Villages Complex in Miami-Dade County. The gas remediation system consisted of an active methane gas collection system including collection trenches below the footprint of buildings. Real time monitoring and maintenance of the system is currently ongoing. BFA designed and implemented a methane remediation system and was responsible for operation and maintenance of methane remediation system. BFA also prepared an O&M manual.

Tasks BFA performed are as follow:

• Drilled methane probes and installed 4-monitoring wells and collected methane readings, coordinate with DERM and Contractors;
• Gas monitoring activities;
• Project coordination and management;
• Quarterly monitoring;
• Monitoring of Methane Gas Remediation System (MGRS) and Methane Gas Monitoring Wells (MGMW); and
• Preparation of reports
