During the early phases of the design of the
proposed Beltway through Seminole County a
Construction and Demolition debris dump site
was discovered. Because it is possible that old
dump sites may potentially contain hazardous
materials, during November of 1989, Mr.
Barnes was responsible for characterization of
this site. A Phase II environmental assessment
was undertaken to determine if the fill material
had adversely affected the surrounding
groundwater quality. The activities included
the installation of 37 test sites and construction
of three groundwater monitoring wells. |

BFA managed the removal of 15 underground
storage tanks and replacements with above
ground storage tanks to comply with DEP
regulations. BFA performed initial
contamination assessments at all of the sites
and coordinated IRA and SAR activities. BFA
performed all applicable permitting and
reporting as required by state agencies. BFA
assisted in sizing and ordering the new above
ground storage tanks, sited the locations for
installation, and supervised the removal of all
underground storage tanks (including closure)
and the installation and testing of the new above ground tanks. |
